- A percent can be converted into a decimal.
Example :
You got 30 out of your math test today, the test was out of 40, since you got 30 out of 40 you got 75 %. First you have to get your decimal number you do that by dividing 30 by 40 and get 0.75 then you have to get the percent number so you multiple your decimal number (0.75) by 100 and get 75 % .
- A percent can be converted into a fraction too.
Example :
You got 20 out of your math test today, the test was out of 40, since you got 20 out of 40 you got 50 %. To convert your percent to a fraction you have to divide the numerator (20) with the denominator (40) then you come up with a decimal number and you multiple that decimal number by 100 to get your percent.
- The percent sign didn't just come about it was made because the slanted line can represent a 1 and the two dots on the sides form two 0's which makes the the number 100 . And the present sign also looks like a division sign and another way to write division sign is a line above your number .
