Peter's Square Root Scribepost

Question #16

a)To find the maximum area of the room you first need to find the area of the room which is 36m²
because 6x6 is 36. The second step is to find what 75% of 36 is. to get 75% you need to multiply 0.75 by 36 and you will get 27, so the answer for a is 27m².

b)To find the dimension you need need to find what √27 is, which is 5.196, if we round it up to 5.2 it wont work because it already passed 75% so we round the number to make 5.1, so the fitness centre will order with the dimension of 5.1m because that's the closest without going over 75%.

To find the answer you need to multiply 56 by whole numbers one by one and square root them together with the whole number you are currently multiplying and the answer should be a whole number. My answer is 14 because if you multiply it by 56 you will get 784 and if you square root the answer you eill get a whole number which is 28.

Pythagorean Relationship Question.

1) The relationship between a²+b²=c² is that a² and b² is lower than c² because the two leg of the triangle which is a² and b² is equal to c² which is the hypotenuse. If other leg is missing you can just subtract the other leg from the hypotenuse. The formula for that is a²= c²-b² or b²= c²-a². the formula a²+b²=c² help you find whether the triangle is a right triangle or not.

2. Solve the missing side length

3.Is this a right triangle? Prove it.

It is not a right triangle because 10 isn't equal to 11, or 100 isn't equal to 121

Let's say that the ski jacket cost $100 so

Then there is another 25% discount

and lastly a 50% discount

70% is the overall discount from original price.

Again pretending that the cost of the DVD player is $100.

I added 100 by 35 cause it says "cost more than"

They still gain 8%.

Peter's Graphing Post

1) Use your note to list the different types of graphs. Please list the advantages and disadvantages of each graph.

Bar Graph- The advantage for bar graph is that they are best for comparing data across categories.
- The disadvantage for bar graph is depending on the interval you can't clearly see the right amount.

Circle Graph-
The advantage for circle graph is that they are best for comparing categories to the whole using percents. The sum of the percents in the circle graph is 100%.
-
The disadvantage for a circle graph is you have to change the number into a percent.

Pictograph-
The advantage for pictograph is that they are best for comparing data that can be easily counted and represented using symbols.
- the disadvantage for a pictograph is it's hard to determine the numbers using symbols.

Line Graph-
The advantage for line graph is that they are best for showing changes in data overtime.
- the disadvantage for a line graph is you don't exactly know what the exact number is.

Double Bar Graph-
The advantage for double bar graph is that they are best for comparing two sets of data across categories.
- the disadvantage for a double bar graph is depending on the interval you won't know the accurate number.

2)
How can graphs be misleading. Show 3 ways.

Distort the size of bars

Distort the scale

Distort the Visual

3a) The following chart shows Pizza Sub Sales over a month. What 2 graphs would show the information accurately?

Line Graph and Bar Graph

3b) If you were selling Pizza Subs would you continue? How does your graph explain your answer.

Yes, because every week the sales go up.

4. Below you see 2 different examples of graphs showing healthy choices sold at the canteen. If you had to convince Mrs Mota that we should continue selling healthy choices which graph would you choose?

If i were to convince Mrs Mota i would show her the line graph because you can clearly see hoe it changed.

4a) Change each graph so that your information looks even MORE impressive. You may not change the data just the graphs.

Peter's Proportion Post

Task 1
Ratio- (part to part) compares different parts of group to each other.

Rate-
A comparison of two quantities measured in different units.

Proportion- An equation that states that two ratios are equal.

Example: If 2 oranges cost $0.50 how much would 6 oranges cost?

Task 2
  1. 5 hours to travel 360 miles is about 72 mph.
  2. A a playgroup worker, if I increase the amount of apple juice I am serving at the playgroup from 25 ml to 100 ml, hoe much should I increase the orange juice to, to keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start with.

Task 3What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?

    Task 4

    Task 5

    1. Does it seem fair? No, I don't think it's fair.

    2. With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem just and fair? Why have you made this choice?

I think this is not fair because the CEO took $3 billion and only in prison for 40 months which is 3 years and 4 months, and the homeless person took only $100 and get a 15 year sentence.

    3. What would you have done if you were the judge?

I would sentence more than 15 years and the homeless man for about 2 weeks
