Bar Graphs:
Advantage- Bar graphs are best for seeing the comparisons of different categories easily.
Disadvantage- A disadvantage is that the intervals may not be that accurate with the exact numbers.
Circle Graphs:Advantage- Circle graphs are best for comparing categories to the whole using percents.
Disadvantage- A disadvantagefor using a circle graph is that you have to do a lot of work to get the percent of the category.

Pictographs:
Advantage- Pictographs are best for comparing data that can be easily counted and represented using symbols.
Advantage- Pictographs are best for comparing data that can be easily counted and represented using symbols.
Disadvantage- A disadvantage for using a pictograph is that you can only use the pictograph if the data you have is even.
Line Graphs:
Advantage- Line graphs are best for showing changes in data over time.
Disadvantage- A disadvantage is that you can't see the exact numbers of the intervals accurately, just like the Bar Graph and Double Bar Graph.

Disadvantage- A disadvantage is that you can't see the exact numbers of the intervals accurately, just like the Bar Graph and Double Bar Graph.
Double Bar Graph:
Advantage- Double bar graphs are best for comparing two sets of data across categories.
Disadvantage-A disadvantage is that you can't see the exact numbers of the intervals accurately, just like the Line Graph and Bar Graph.

2. How can graphs be misleading?
Example 1: Distorting the Scale
Games: http://classroom.jc-schools.net/basic/math-graph.html
Example 1: Distorting the Scale
*When you distort the scale, you
put in a break in the y axis, the bigger the break, the
more they are misrepresented.
Example 2: Distorting the Visuals
*When you distort the visuals, the less valued categories seem to appear bigger because of the size of the drawings.
Example 3: Distorting the size of Bars
*When you distort the size of bars, make it look 3-D, or change the colour of one bar, one bar may seem more important than the rest, even if it's not.
3 a) The following chart shows Pizza Sub Sales over a month. What 2 graphs would show the information accurately?
-I would choose the bar graph and line graph.
3 b) If you were selling Pizza Subs would you continue? How does your graph explain your answer.
-I would continue selling Pizza Subs because every week people are buying more and more of it, so why stop? Since the amount of pizza subs are g
etting higher, I would use a one graph because it shows the changes of data over time.
4. Below you see 2 different examples of graphs showing healthy choices sold at the canteen. If you had to convince Mrs Mota that we should continue selling healthy choices which graph would you choose?
-I would chose the line graph because the if I used the pictograph, then you would have to multiply the number of items sold by 4. The line graph would be easier because it shows it going higher and higher.

4 a) Change each graph so that your information looks even MORE impressive. You may not change the data just the graphs.
