philip's Proportion Post

ratio:Comparitive value of two or more amount. Can be written as 3:4 or as a fraction

rate:A ratio that compares two quantities measured in different units eg

proportion:A part to whole comparison eg 3:4=9:12

5 hours to travel 360 miles is about 72 mph

As a playgroup worker, if I increase the amount of apple juice I am serving at the playgroup from 25 ml to 100 ml, how much should I increase the the orange juice to, to keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start with. You should increase it to 200(x4)

What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?
3/4=12/16 diagonally (times top left to bottom right) vertically and horizontally

  1. Does this seem fair? Not at all.
  2. With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem just and fair? Not at all Why have you made this choice.Just look at the pictures, he frauded 3billion but only 3.5 years of prison and the other guy stole $100 but gave it back and surrenderd to police and got 15 years?!?!?Its crazy.
  3. What would you have done if you were the judge?I would have given him 62 hours of community service.
