Marlo's Proportion Post

Proportion: An Equation which states that that two ratios (Fractions) are equal.

Word
------ ------- = ------
Ratio

Ex. 172cm= 1 square there are 80 squares

Ratio: A ratio is a proportion that represents that relationship between two different things.
Rate: A comparison of two quantities measured in different units
Example of a rate is 64 beats/minute

1.)5 hours to travel 360 miles is about _____mph

Its 72 miles per hour or 72 mph

2.) As a playgroup worker, if I increase the amount of apple juice I am serving at the playgroup from 25 ml to 100 ml, how much should I increase the the orange juice to, to keep the quantities in the same proportion? The orange juice is 50 ml to start with.

What are the three ways you can prove that equivalent ratio statements are true?

3/4 = 12/16 or 4/9 = 16/32

4/9 and 16/32 arent equal.

Heres a video about proportion:

Does this seem fare? No I dont think its fair.

With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does it seem just and fair? Why have you made this choice? No its not fair because if you try to do the math and change the 100 to 3 billion and change the years to make it the same as the old CEO he would end up way longer than him he would end up in jail for more than 45 billion years. while the old CEO only has to do 4 years.

What would you have done if you were the judge?

If I was the judge I would of probably been more fair to him and I would of only let him stay there for like 3 months I know its not really the best choice in his case but Im just trying to be realistic.
