Homework Booklet pg. 28-29 Kyanna 8-73

1) Estimate the square root of 40 using the number line below

So you know 40 is between the two perfect square numbers 36 and 49. 40 is closer to 36 so you put 40 before the half way point. You know that that 40 can't be more than 7 because the square root of 49 is 7 and 40 is less than 7. So the number for 40 should be 6 decimal something. The number after the decimal should be less than 5 because the half way point is 6.5. So lets make is 6.4!

b) Estimate the whole number that has a square root two thirds of the way along the number line between 3 and 4.
The square root of 9 is 3 and the square root of 16 is 4. We have to find 1/3 of the way along the number line, which s 14.

4) Identify all of the whole numbers with a square root larger than 5 and smaller than 6.
The square root of 5 of 25 so the numbers have to be larger than 25. The square root of 6 is 36 so the numbers have to be smaller than 36.

6) Write the perfect square immediately before and after the whole number, and then estimate the square root of the whole number to one decimal place. Check your estimates with a calculator.

  1. nice post kyanna, I like that you explained how to get the answer, I also like how you made the answer big and a diffrent colour. But next time if you are going to that do it with the whole word, and can you make the picture clear and use a diffrent colour. But over all nice job.

  3. Great job Kyanna, I like how you took the time to make pictures and take a picture of the work you have done. I also like that you explained how to find the answer for some questions. I don't know if it's me but the some of the letters are big and some are small like in one sentence. Next time add a link or even a video, but overall you did an awesome job. Great job again Kyanna!!

  5. Great job KYANNA! I liked how you explained how you got the answer. ALso, I like that you gave a lot of effort to do your pictures! Like other people said, I would recommend that you should put either a video or a game for us to know more about it and also, to practice with. Keep up the good work!

  6. Good job Kyanna! I liked how you explained your work very productively and put in your time to do this math blog. I liked the use of colours in the pictures and how you put the questions before your answer to help us understand what you were pointing out. Some suggestions I have is to check the font because some of the font sizes are big and small and half of the questions are coloured or just regular. Maybe next time you should just check back, but I liked how you did your work. Also try adding a video or a helpful game next time. Keep it up Kyanna! (=
